CHAPTER 9

  Kate was at Jake's home to baby sit Jake's little sister Miley. Dr. Drew and Mariana are going to Dr. Drew's friend's anniversary out of town.

  Max open the door he was also ready and looking very handsome in navy blue suit.

  “Hey ma...Max” Kate said “hi...Kate so you and Jake have program for combine study tonight” Max said smiling.

  He always laughs the ways Kate looks him and shutters his name.

  “Yeah... Jake is weak in economics so I help him” Kate said

  “Excuse me miss my brother is very genius; well he's my brother .he just want to give you importance OK Missy” Max said and they laugh.

  “Thank for babysitting Miley I want to take her to but her friend have sleepover tonight that's why I call you” Mariana said

  She looks so beautiful in peach color gown which match her eyes and her hairs are tie back side. She has dark brown hair and light brown eyes she’s tall and very beautiful, as in nature she is a quite person. Kate never saw her going .Jake get his eyes from his mother.

  “C’mon Mariana, Mel is my sister too, plus Jake and I have plans I'm sure that's why he's not going right” Kate said

  “Right Kate” Dr. Drew said coming out of his room then Mariana help him with his coat.

  “I don't want to go, but mom insist or we have so much fun you, me and Jake” Max said

  “Speaking of which, where is Jake” Max asked “get the car Max we're coming” Mariana said little loud.

  Kate got shocked but she didn't show. What suddenly happen to Mariana a moment ago she was helping Doc with his coat and kissing him then suddenly she shout at Max.

  They left; Kate was in kitchen still thinking about Mariana sudden reaction. She set a tray with sandwiches and juices then headed to Miley's room.

  Miley Jake little sister was cute like him black hair and eyes and Dimple on her cheek when she smile, she’s about twelve years old. Jake loves her so much.

  When first time Jake got a job in bakery he bought her a doll house because her dog broke her house and Mariana told her that she will buy her next month but she insist to Jake so Jake get a job and buy her new house. She loves him so much too.

  “Hey girlfriends what's up??”Kate asked with joyful mood

  “Nothing we are having tea party” said Miley. She and her friends Cathy and Rebecca were also there.

  “Oh... nice well, pretty princesses if you need anything you know where to find...it ...well in kitchen of course... your father didn't pay me this month salary so help yourself... okay!!” Kate said in serious way then laughs so as all the girls.

  She takes her book and moved to Jake's room as she reached to open the door she thought for a second then knock.

  “Who’s there” Jake voice came from the inside “Kate” Kate said. Jake open the door then said

  “Who are you...? Ki never knock my room's door “Jake said then raise one eye brow.

  “Well I thought you mind about this like you mind interfering me in your matter... guess you need your space” Kate said putting book on his bed.

  “You still upset with me Ki” Jake said with low tune.

  Jake fall on bed straight without saying a word to Kate.

  “What’s up with a long face?” Kate asked.

  She opens the books and her notes.

  “They didn't take me and I want to go” Jake said staring the roof.

  “Because you have exam tomorrow and you are weak in economics...And they also don’t take Miley” Kate explained then smiles while thinking.

  “Because her friends coming for sleep over and...What... what happen” Jake asked as he sees her smiling

  “Did I tell you, your brother look amazing” Kate said

  “Yep... all the time” Jake answer still with low tune.

  “When I told him that you are weak in economic, he said to me that NO MISS MY BROTHER IS NOT WEAK HE JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU IMPORTANCE” Kate said in thick voice, as she acting like Max.

  “Really Ki... you're not joking?” Jake asked looking at her surprisingly as he sat on bed.

  “Why I joke about this... Max really said that, well he also said Jake is my brother and I am genius so as he” Kate said.

  Jake smile then open his notes. Kate notices he's feeling good now.

  They fall asleep while studying.

  Jake was sleeping on the books and Kate on the pillow. It was 2'o clock in the morning Kate wake up as she heard the car horn. Then take all the books and put them on table.

  She get out of room and check Miley’s room, she open the door quietly. Miley and her friend were sleeping then she closed the door.

  Jake was still sleep. He’s a good sleeper. Kate was thirsty so she moves toward kitchen. She was still sleepy.

  As she enters the kitchen she yawned and moves to open the switch but before she opens the switch she heard voices. It came from Dr. Drew’s room which was closed to kitchen.

  The gate was little open, light was still on and someone talking loud, Kate goes little close to room but think it’s bad manner and turn to leave but stop as she heard Jake's name.

  “You don't have to interrupt Max when he's talking to Kate about Jake then you take only Max it was a family gathering. Everyone was asking about him.” Dr. Drew said.

  Kate never heard him in serious mood. She never thought he could talk to Mariana in loud voice.

  “I know... I can't hold it... he didn't need to involve in our family to much, one day he have to leave it” Mariana voice came.

  “Mary please keeps it low...will you… we don’t talk about this… you know how much people like his company and you…” Dr. Drew tries to keep her down. Kate doesn’t understand her words.

  She think “may be she's talking about he left the house because he got in sport and leaving out of town so much without Doc’s permission, that why she's mad on him” thinking that Kate moved then freeze when she heard Mariana saying

  “I hate to see, the way he looks at me, the way people ask about him. I don't want Max and Miley to get close to him. He’s not my son. I can see him in his eyes. If Miley don't insist to stay I'll take her too, leaving him alone” Kate can't feel the ground.

  She sense Dr. Drew coming to close the door so she run and close Jake's room door before he notice. But Dr. Drew notice she listen everything as he heard Jake’s room door shut.

  She was sitting at bed and look at Jake who was still sleeping and then thinks

  “Why Mariana said that ...how a mother can hate her own child even only Jake have her eyes, Max and Miley don't. OK... even if we judge Jake on his behavior, maybe then a mother can hate her own child. there is something that Doc is hiding in the closet but what or maybe I am feeling it too much if I can get jealous from Jake’s new gathering so could she... I mean she is his mother... Yeah maybe? That’s why she thinks he will leave one day “she put blanket on Jake then falls asleep.
